Yesterday, GatorCountry.com reported that multiple players will be suspended for today's opener against Toledo for breaking team rules.

Juniors Loucheiz Purifoy (CB), Darious Cummings (DT), sophomore wide receiver Latroy Pittman, redshirt freshman offensive lineman Quinteze Williams and freshman defensive tackle Jay-nard Bostwick will all be sidelined when the Gators take the field in Gainesville to kick off their much-anticipated 2013 season.

Among the suspended players, Purifoy's absence will have the biggest impact against the Rockets, who play in the pass-happy MAC. The junior is the team's leading returning tackler with 51 total tackles a year ago and also registered three forced fumbles in the 2012 campaign.

The loss of Pittman will also impact Florida as earlier this month the Gators lost senior wideout Andre Dubose for the season with an ACL injury that required surgery to repair.

The five suspended players will not be the only ones not dressed this afternoon.

The university announced earlier this week that running back Matt Jones (viral infection), OL Jon Halapio (back injury) and Antonio Morrison (suspension) will also not play against Toledo.

Jones and Morrison (who was suspended by head coach Will Muschamp following a pair of summer arrests), are expected back next week for Miami, as are Purifoy, Pittman, Williams, Bostwick, and Cummings, while Halapio's targeted return is against SEC rival Tennessee on September 21.

UPDATE: Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post tweeted after this story was posted that Bostwick is not among the players suspended, according to the University of Florida:
