New York responded in the bottom half as Austin Romine doubled and would later come around to score after a Gardner sacrafice and a dribbler to the pitcher by Ichiro making it a 2-1 game.

The Yankees started to put the game out of reach in the fourth inning when they had three consectuive singles to start the inning. Jayson Nix would hit into a double play allowing a run to score and David Adams would extend the lead to 4-2 after an infield single to third base.
