According to a report by Chris Cotillo of SB Nation's "MLB Daily Dish" blog, the Tampa Bay Rays are on the verge of a four player trade with the San Diego Padres that will send utility player Logan Forsythe to Tampa Bay. This report has not been confirmed by the organization.
According to Cotillo's report the Rays would be receiving two players including Forsythe for two of their own players which Alex Torres could be one of those players heading to San Diego. Forsythe hit .214 with 6 HR and 19 RBI in his third major league season manning the field at five different positions (third base, shortstop, second base, left field, and right field). Forsythe is a lifetime .241 hitter with 12 HR and 57 RBI in 228 career games.
According to Keith Law of ESPN, Tampa Bay will send Torres and minor-league pitcher Jesse Hahn to San Diego for Forsythe, reliever Brad Boxberger, minor-league starter Matt Andriese, and reliever Matt Lollis.
So the deal would be Torres and Hahn to Padres; Andriese, Forsythe, Lollis, and Boxberger to Rays.— keithlaw (@keithlaw) January 22, 2014
Boxburger has already sent out confirmation that he is indeed part of the deal.
Just wanted to say thank you to the @Padres and all the fans for an amazing time in San Diego— Brad Boxberger (@Brad_Boxberger) January 22, 2014
