11-year-old struck by SUV while riding to school

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. (970 WFLA) – An elementary school student was struck by an SUV on the way to school, Pinellas Park Police said.

Police said it happened just after 7 a.m. on the 9700 block of 66 St. N.

Police said the bicyclist is an 11-year-old boy who was riding his bicycle northbound on the sidewalk along 66 St.  After stopping for a stop sign, police said an SUV attempted to enter 66 St. from a side street and struck the boy as he crossed into the SUV's path.
