Daytona Beach, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-The short version of Bike Week, known as "Biketoberfest," has wrapped up with businesses counting up the profits and bikers nursing hangovers and sore butts.
There were a couple of down spots during the weekend event. The first fatality of the event was recorded Friday when a man lost control of his motorcycle, hit a curb and then a fence. Daytona Beach P.D. says the rider was not wearing a helmet.
Two motorcyclists were also killed during private training at Daytona International Speedway. There is motorcycle racing during "Biketoberfest."
"Biketoberfest" first popped on the Daytona events calendar back in 1992. Merchants thought the October event would help generate more interest in the big Bike Week in March.
