ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) – St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman’s will announce the new St. Petersburg Police Chief Tuesday. It will be Clearwater Chief of Police Anthony Holloway where he's been in charge since 2010.
The process Mayor Kriseman implemented for selecting a new chief greatly informed his decision, his office said.
"Each finalist had their strengths, but ultimately none fit the criteria to successfully meet the needs of our department and our community. This process brought me clarity and led me to realize what we needed most: someone familiar with us, but not of us. That someone is Chief Anthony Holloway." Mayor Kriseman said in a news release.
Mayor Kriseman will be joined on Tuesday by Interim Chief Dave DeKay, Incoming Chief Anthony Holloway, and Council of Neighborhood Associations President Lisa Wheeler-Brown.
