CLEARWATER, Fla (News Channel 8)- The fliers are in the mailbox to persuade Clearwater voters in the aquarium referendum.
A 'yes' vote changes the city charter, allowing the city of Clearwater to enter into negotiations on a lease of city hall property to the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
The aquarium wants to build a $160 million facility on the bluff.
"This is not a good idea, not a feasible enterprise. It's private business trying to use public land," said Joe Corvino. Corvino is part of the political action committee, Friends of Clearwater, advocating a -no- vote.
