St. Petersburg, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A. Happ has been released from Bayfront Medical Center after being hit in the head by a line drive in a game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fans and players at Tropicana Field were in shock when the hard hit baseball knocked Happ to the ground. Emergency personnel surrounded Happ, strapped him to a stretcher and took him off to the hospital.
After treatment and tests at Bayfront, Happ was said to be in good condition before his discharge. Bayfront staff won't release any additional information on Happ
Bayfront did say Happ was in good spirits and thanked the fans and players for their support. Happ says he is also hoping to return to the mound as soon as possible.
