Hernando Gets A New Deputy

Brooksville, Fla.-(970 WFLA)-The Hernando County Sheriff's Office has a new deputy.  "K-9 Valor" is joining the K-9 unit with his handler, Deputy Jeffrey Andrews.

The 16 month-old German Shepard was born in Germany and brought to Florida.  Deputy Andrews and Valor are in Patrol School in Pinellas County and will graduate in July.

The K-9 team will be required to pass state certification through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement prior to going on the road to fight crime.

Valor was purchased with a five thousand dollar donation in the memory of Janet Anderson.  Anderson served as staff attorney for both Sheriff Tom Mylander and Sheriff Richard Nugent.
