You might need to do a bit of homework before heading to the store. Online policies might differ from store rules when it comes to returns. Some retailers also have specific return policies for different merchandise categories, according to online consumer resource guide ConsumerWorld.org.
The website also says it surveyed retailers and found that some major retailers changed their return periods for 2013.
ConsumerWorld.org lists the following return policies as noteworthy or different from previous years-
-Best Buy shortened its regular return period from 30 to 15 days and shortened its holiday return period to January 15 instead of January 24.
