Sinkhole Opens in Dade City

DADE CITY, Fla. (WFLA/AP)- A 30-foot sinkhole has been discovered in Pasco county after reports of flooding from severe rain in the area.

The sheriff's office says the sinkhole found Thursday evening in Dade City is about 30 feet deep and 30 feet wide. No injuries have been reported.

Several roads have been closed due to flooding in the area. Nearby Hernando county has also experienced severe weather.

Florida has more sinkholes than any other state in the nation. Sections of a building at a resort near Orlando's theme park district collapsed earlier this month into a sinkhole and a Tampa man died earlier this year when a sinkhole opened up underneath his bedroom.
