ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA/AP)- A review board has determined two St. Petersburg police officers were justified in using deadly force against an attempted homicide suspect.
St. Petersburg chief Chuck Harmon issued the findings Thursday.
Officers Brian Burton and Joseph Heer confronted Carlos Crompton on July 16th outside a residence. He was a suspect in the shooting ex-girlfriend Alyssa Dudley earlier that evening.
According to police, Crompton produced a .38 special resolver and fired at the officers as they approached. Burton and Heer then returned fire, striking crompton multiple times. He died from his injuries.
