St. Pete Police investigating shooting

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (970 WFLA) – St. Petersburg Police officers said they are currently conducting an investigation into a shooting incident on the 4200 block 4th Avenue South.

Police said according to investigators, at about 7:15 p.m., three bail bondsmen arrived at a home attempting to locate a wanted fugitive identified as 24-year-old Lorenzo Arscott.

Police said according to the bondsmen, as they approached the house on foot, Arscott appeared behind the wheel of a black Toyota Camry and drove directly at one them. Police said that bondsman produced a handgun and fired several times at the car in self defense. Then, police said the car came to a stop and Arscott was detained by the bondsmen until officers arrived on the scene.

Police said as a result of the shooting, Arscott suffered a wound to his shoulder and was transported to the hospital with a wound that is not considered life threatening.

Police said Arscott had outstanding warrants for failure to appear on marijuana charges and was also found in possession of a handgun. Police said Arscott has been charged with aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.

No charges are anticipated against the bondsman, police said.
