Andreychuk Believes St. Louis Understands Limited Olympics Role

Now that Team Canada has named Martin St. Louis to their roster in lieu of the injured Steven Stamkos, the next question facing the Lightning captain is exactly how much he’ll play.  Unfortuntely things are not looking so good for St. Louis as the first two practices have not found St. Louis on the top three forward lines for Team Canada, and his playing time in general is in question.

Former Tampa Bay Lightning Captain Dave Andreychuk joined WDAE’s ‘The Sports Page’ on Wednesday morning and said he’s unsure if St. Louis will play on a top line for Team Canada.

“I got a feeling that he should probably get the first shot at it (at making a top three line) with the experience he has” said Andreychuk.  “Maybe a couple of those younger guys, maybe they will see how it goes in the first game or so.  You know the way it’s looking right now with Marty (St. Louis) not getting selected right off the bat and then coming in and with what’s happened in the last couple of days, he’s just got to buy his time.”

Andreychuk believes that St. Louis understands his role on a talent heavy Team Canada roster, and believes that when St. Louis’ number is called he will be ready to play.
