According to a report by SportsNet (Canada) NHL reporter Nick Kypreos, Tampa Bay Lightning Captain Martin St. Louis requested a trade following his original snub from the Team Canada roster which was headed to the Sochi Olympic games.
St.Louis does have a full no move expiring 2014-15. As reported by @NYP_Brooksie Yzerman not interested in renting a top player without term— Nick Kypreos (@RealKyper) February 24, 2014
The 38 year-old winger is the Bolts' top scorer and has been rumored to be targeted by the New York Rangers for over a month according to The New York Post. However if St. Louis was upset about being snubbed, Tampa Tribune's Erik Erlendsson says winning gold in Sochi, and Yzerman stepping down from his post on Team Canada yesterday would smooth things over.
And if there were any bad feelings between SY and MSL, I'd have to think winning a gold medal would smooth those over pretty quickly— Erik Erlendsson (@erlendssonTBO) February 24, 2014
The NHL trade deadline is March 5th.
