The NHL trade deadline is less than a week away and the Tampa Bay Lightning are on the forefront of the news surrounding a possible trade of Captain Martin St. Louis. The 38-year old winger refused to answer the question on if he requested a trade following his original exclusion from the Team Canada roster saying that he had discussions with General Manager Steve Yzerman, but would not dive into things any further.
Late Wednesday night, a report from TSN hockey insider Darrek Dreger says that the Lightning are indeed fielding calls but St. Louis is "targeted" on one team.
Teams may continue to call TBay on St Louis, but, as of now, Lightning are telling teams St Louis is locked on the New York Rangers. #tsn— Darren Dreger (@DarrenDreger) February 27, 2014
The NHL trade deadline is March 5th.
