The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are betting on NFL history when it comes to a quick turnaround following a losing season.  History meaning there has yet to be a back to back division champion since the division was created in 2002, and the Buccaneers are ripe for the picking as they haven’t been crowned NFC South champs since 2007.

NFL on FOX analyst Brian Billick told WDAE’s ‘The Ron and Ian Show’ Thursday that he believes the Buccaneers could indeed be the Carolina Panthers of this year, coming from a losing season into a divisional champ.

“I think they’re poised to do a quick turnaround.  I think they’re better than their record showed” said Billick.  “I think they’re poised to make a run, and remember in the NFC South no team ever repeats as champion.   So why not be Tampa’s turn?”

Billick calling the hire of new Buccaneers head coach Lovie Smith a “great hire.” Billick added with additions of what Billick called “one of the best defensive coordinators in the game” in Leslie Frazier and Jeff Tedford’s resume with working with quarterbacks in the league, the Buccaneers could be set for a big year in 2014.
