McCoy, Joseph Optimistic About 2013

By Tom Krasniqi

The Buccaneers are looking for leaders to step forward in 2013.  Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy and guard Davin Joseph are up to the task.

Both players addressed the media Tuesday as the Bucs endured Day 2 of voluntary offseason workouts.  McCoy is expecting more out of himself this season.  "My leadership ability has to go up because I have enough years under my belt to where now I can say this is my defense", says McCoy.  Entering his 4th year, McCoy is coming off an offseason where he wasn't rehabbing from an injury.

McCoy is also coming off a Pro Bowl season in 2012, but don't tell him that.  "I'm not a Pro Bowler. That was last year I was.  This year, I haven't done anything".  McCoy is not opposed to Darrelle Revis coming to Tampa Bay, but says he's only worried about the guys who are here now.

As for Joseph, he's feeling great after rehabbing from last summer's torn patellar tendon surgery on his knee.  Joseph says there are no limitations.  "Rehab's good.  Rehab is over with.  I'm working out with the team, getting ready for the season", says Joseph.  He says the hardest part of the rehab was not being able to see his teammates in the locker room.

Joseph is a firm believer in quarterback Josh Freeman, but says the team needs to rally around him.  "I know Josh is the guy because he's here.  I know we have everything we need to win here.  When it comes together, we'll be praising Josh of course as the guy with the MVP trophy and all that great stuff....But, it's a team sport".
