It's been a wild week for Leslie Frazier but mere days after being fired as head coach of the Minnesota Vikings, Frazier has found himself a new home with an old friend in Tampa Bay. According to a text message received by ESPN bureau reporter Josina Anderson, Leslie Frazier will be joining Lovie Smith's coaching staff in Tampa Bay as the Bucs defensive coordinator.
Filed to ESPN: Leslie Frazier just text me "going to Tampa." Frazier then told me he will be the next defensive coordinator for the Bucs.— Josina Anderson (@JosinaAnderson) January 4, 2014
Hired by then-Vikings head coach Brad Childress to be the defensive coordinator in 2007, Frazier interviewed for seven head-coach openings over a three-year span: Atlanta and Miami (2008); Denver, Detroit and St. Louis (2009); and Buffalo and Seattle (2010).
His opportunity came with the Vikings when Childress was fired in the middle of a messy 2010 season. Frazier finished 21-32-1 in just over 3 full seasons including a 5-10-1 record in 2013.
This report has not been confirmed by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to WDAE.
