Former Tampa Bay Rays catcher Stephen Vogt celebrates with his teammates in Oakland after getting his first big-league hit Friday.

He started opening day of the 2012 season on the big-league roster.  He finished the 2012 season on the big-league roster, but there was one thing Stephen Vogt just couldn't shake: the zero in the hit column.

Twenty-seven plate appearances in eighteen major league games, and Vogt just couldn't get a baseball to fall in.

His teammates probably told him that when he got his first hit, it would be something he'd always remember.

Will he ever remember it, indeed.

Vogt, now a member of the Oakland Athletics after being traded April 6 for a player to be named later or cash considerations, finally got his first hit, a home run off Joe Kelly Jr. of the St.Louis Cardinals in the fourth inning Friday at the O.co Coliseum, and afterwards got the silent treatment from his teammates.

Watch Stephen Vogt's first career hit!

On social media, current and former Rays players, front-office personnel, and yes, even members of the media (including yours truly), congratulated him on finally breaking through.
