The Rays will be losing one of their top pitching prospects for at least a year due to injury.
According to Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times, pitcher Taylor Guerrieri will undergo Tommy John surgery Wednesday on his right elbow.

The 20-year-old, taken in the first round of the 2011 draft, was 6-2 with a 2.01 earned run average in 14 starts with Class-A Bowling Green. Coming in to 2013, Guerrieri was considered by MLB.com as Tampa Bay's 2nd best prospect (behind OF Wil Myers) and 37th overall in baseball. Normal recovery time from the surgery is at least 12 months.
