Kelly Johnson and Tim Beckham keep the mood light during the team's optional workout Sunday at Tropicana Field.

Judging by the attitude, you wouldn't have known Sunday could possibly have been the last workout day of the 2013 season.

Most of the 25-man playoff roster did not take the field to work out.  Sure, third baseman Evan Longoria took his usual grounders at third base, and Kelly Johnson was out shagging fly balls in left field with the assistance of first-base coach George Hendrick.

However, most of the players that did emerge from the clubhouse were guys looking to keep ready in case they needed to be called on.

Infielder Tim Beckham and outfielder Kevin Kiermaier played a little catch, and then were joined by designated pinch-runner Freddy Guzman to help with pitcher Jake Odorizzi's simulated game.

But manager Joe Maddon feels it's the sort of mentality that is good to have after losing a pair of tough games to put you behind 0-2 in a best-of-five series.

"You can have some bad days," the Tampa Bay skipper explained.  "To carry negativity with you does absolutely no good whatsoever.  You learn from your mistakes, no question, but move it along."

And pitcher Alex Cobb is ready to send this series to a fourth game.

"It's win or go home," Cobb said about his matchup Monday against Clay Buchholz and the Boston Red Sox.  "So I don't want to be the one sending us home.  I'm going to give everything I've got out there."
