Rays Sweep White Sox With 3-1 Win

David Price pitched a complate game as the Rays swept the White Sox in front of 16, 832 at Tropicana Field Sunday afternoon.

Tampa Bay jumped on the board early after Desmond Jennings lead off with a double to start the game, then advanced on Sean Rodriguez' sacrifice bunt and scored after the Rays' lone All Star Game representative, Ben Zobrist, brought in Jennnings with a sacrifice fly in the first.

The Rays extended their lead to 2-0 when Rodriguez singled to left field, scoring Yunel Escobar from second, but Chicago got one run back an inning later when Josh Phegley notched his first career homer.

Jose Molina had quite an afternoon for Tampa Bay, throwing out two runners attempting to steal second, and bringing in the insurance run, Luke Scott, in the bottom of the seventh with a sac fly.

Price didn't look as spectacular as he did in his first start since coming back from the DL, allowing around eight hits, but walked none and struck out out five in nine innings.

The Rays have won eight of their last nine games and are at a season-high nine games over .500 as they continue their homestand hosting the Twins for four games and the Astros for three before the All Star break begins.

Monday's contest against Minnesota begins at 7:10, with the Suncoast Hyundai Dealers Inside Pitch beginning at 6pm, followed by the Rays Radio pre-game show at 6:30 only on 620am/95.3fm WDAE, your home for the Rays.
