The Tampa Bay Rays took their 2013 team photo Saturday at Tropicana Field, with the team wearing their Columbia blue tops.

As is customary on photo day, there was plenty of hijinks going on, with a majority centered around closer Fernando Rodney.  Rodney brought a plantain, which has become a mascot-like companion out to the photo shoot, and bench coach Dave Martinez made sure to get well-acquainted.

It's up to Rays Vice President of Communications Rick Vaughn and his staff to make sure that the players know that the time to goof off is coming to an end, and they've got to take a good picture.  As demonstrated by Vaughn, it's kind of like conducting an orchestra.

Afterwards, it's time for more frivolity, and no one enjoys it more than Rodney, who decided to wield the plantain like it was Exclaibur, getting laughs from the players, coaches, and media alike.

The Rays and Padres will have the second of their three-game series tonight at Tropicana Field.  Jeremy Hellickson (1-2, 4.79 ERA) will get the start against Burch Smith, who is making his Major League debut.
