Former Buccaneers QB and current NBC Sports NFL Analyst Shaun King called in to the Ron and Ian Show Thursday morning to weigh in on the Bucs' decision to bench Josh Freeman and promote rookie Mike Glennon to the role of starting quarterback.
"Well, I disagree with the move, but let me say this," King said, "I think as an NFL organization, you have a responsibility to provide an environment that's conducive to players reaching their full potential and flourishing. And to me, that environment needs to be based on continuity, ability, and a clearly defined set of standards and expectations. And because I don't think that has ever existed with Josh Freeman as a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, I think this is an epic and collossal failure by everyone within that organization.
"From the time this young man got here, that organization has been dysfunctional, there's been turmoil, there's been turnover, and no direction. I blame them for him failing."
