We have have stumbled onto a semi-regular guest Wednesday in the form of MLB Network analyst Joey Cora.
He had plenty to say about the Rays and much of it was thought provoking. Like how he feels the Rays could have gone a lot further this year.
"Just think about it," he said. "Let's take a look at the season, you call up Wil Myers and you took off. What if you call up Wil Myers a week or two earlyier? Maybe you would have won two or three more games."
That would have of course meant the Rays could've made the first Wild Card and avoided an additional tiebreaker game.
"I think it would have made a difference. The rotation would have set up better. Maybe that decision of waiting so long to call up Myers cost them at the end," Cora said.
He also spoke highly of shortstop Yunel Escobar, said he thinks there's no way the Rays bring back Fernando Rodney at close (declining skills, increased salary) -- and even shared some interesting comments on Alex Rodriguez, a former teammate.
