On Wednesday night the city of Boston attemped to get back some normalcy in their lives as a sold out crowd poured into the TD Garden to watch the Bruins host the Sabres in the first sporting event the city has hosted since the Boston Marathon on Monday.
Everyone in attendance watched as a somber and touching video of scenes from the race was displayed across the center ice videoboard screen. The video ended with the words "We Are Boston, We Are Strong."
The Boston Fire Department Honor Guard brought out the U.S. flag to honor the first responders who rushed to the aid of the three killed and more than 170 injured by the two bombs that detonated at the marathon finish line.
Longtime Bruins anthem singer Rene Rancourt began the "Star-Spangled Banner,"but trailed off after a couple lines and the crowd took over.
When the last lines had been sung, the Garden erupted into a thunderous cheer as many were in tears and began to chant, "USA."
