The Madden Curse will have to take a year off. Wednesday on live television, it was announced that hall of fame running back Barry Sanders beat out reigning NFL MVP Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings to land the coveted cover of "Madden NFL 25."
The vote was announced Wednesday night on ESPN2’s hit show “SportsNation.”
Sanders won with 58 percent of the more than 700,000 votes cast on the final matchup. There were 40 million votes tallied throughout the entire competition.
Madden NFL 25 marks the 25th edition of the best-selling series football video game.
Sanders hall of fame 10-year career with the Lions totaled 15,269 yards rushing and 99 touchdowns before retiring after the 1998 season.
