Everyone has an opinion when it comes to sports, and especially the New York Jets. Appearing on WFAN Radio in New York, Governor Chris Christie ripped New York Daily News Jets beat reporter Manish Mehta, calling Mehta a dope and an idiot for asking Ryan about Geno Smith's chances of starting Week one for the Jets.
“Idiot. The guy’s a complete idiot," Christie said. "Self-consumed, underpaid, reporter … the only way he’s empowered is because we’re spending all this time talking about Manish Mehta this morning … Who, by the way, I couldn’t pick out of a lineup and no Jets fan gives a damn about Manish Mehta … We shouldn’t be giving this dope, you know, the amount of airtime we’ve given him already.”
Mehta was the reporter who pressed head coach Rex Ryan on whether rookie quarterback Geno Smith still had a chance at the starting job. Ryan became extremely upset and disturbed, then making the press conference become one of the most viral post game press conferences in recent memory.
Rex Ryan should be fired tonight for signing off on one of the dumbest decisions I've ever seen. #nyj— Manish Mehta (@MMehtaNYDN) August 25, 2013
