Baseball in Miami hasn't really taken off since the new stadium was built to house the show that Ozzie Guillen built. Since it's opening in 2012 the team has signed then traded away superstars, fired Ozzie Guillen and hired Mike Redmond and have a 131-193 record (including a 74-88 record at Marlins Park).
Attendance has been a big issue in Miami with the team finishing 29th in baseball in 2013 as the Marlins averaged 19,584 fans per game — playing at 52.3 percent capacity. So instead of a special ticket plan or smart promotion for opening day, how about a Groupon.
The Miami Marlins are offering a Groupon for the low cost of $13, you could get a ticket to opening day against the Colorado Rockies plus another ticket to a game in April or May. So doing the math, that's $6.50 to have a seat at Marlins Park to watch reigning NL Rookie Of The Year Jose Fernandez pitch on opening night in Miami.
