WNBA #1 Overall Pick Brittney Griner Admits She Is Gay Following Draft

NEW YORK (AP) — Before they were college basketball stars and the future of the WNBA, Brittney Griner, Skylar Diggins and Elena Delle Donne had something else in common: They were all bullied when they were children.

The top three picks in the WNBA draft tell The Associated Press that standing out in a crowd wasn't always easy.

The 6-foot-8 Griner says it was hard "being picked on for being different," not just her size, but also her sexuality.

Delle Donne says she was not the only person in her family to be bullied. She talked about her older sister Lizzie, who is deaf, blind and has cerebral palsy.

Digins, who has become close freinds with the other two former college stars, says she has learned a lot from the pair, especially Griner, on how to deal with the negative criticism they have all endured.
